Don’t Forget the Refrigerator

our RV refrigerator needs a little attention before your RV goes into extended storage. Start by removing all food, drinks, ice, and other perishables, then thoroughly wipe down the shelves, drawers, walls, and door seals. Even small spills or crumbs left behind can lead to unpleasant odors, mold, mildew, or attract unwanted pests.

Once the refrigerator and freezer are completely clean and dry, turn them off and leave the doors slightly open to allow air to circulate. Trapped moisture inside a closed refrigerator can quickly create musty odors and mildew, especially during long periods of storage.

For extra protection, consider placing an open box of baking soda or another refrigerator-safe odor absorber inside. Before your next trip, give the refrigerator a quick inspection and cleaning before turning it back on.

Friendly Tip: A few extra minutes of cleaning and airing out your refrigerator before storage can make a big difference. When adventure calls, you’ll open the door to a fresh, clean fridge instead of an unpleasant surprise.
